Biography

Dexter DeShawn, or Dex to almost everyone, is one of the most prominent fixers in Night City. He was never a merc himself; he made his reputation as a dealmaker with a talent for judging people, choosing the right merc for each job on instinct rather than keeping a regular crew. Respected across the business, he is still generally ranked a step below Rogue Amendiares. Dex left the city in 2075 for reasons nobody could pin down, with talk of a vacation, and he comes back in 2077 with the most ambitious contract of his career.

The client is Evelyn Parker, who wants to steal the Relic, a prototype chip in Yorinobu Arasaka’s possession, and sell it to NetWatch. On the recommendation of the netrunner T-Bug, Dex brings in V and Jackie Welles. He also pays the Maelstrom gang for a stolen Militech Flathead robot and books a premium Delamain extraction package so the crew can slip away from Konpeki Plaza once the chip is in hand.

When the heist goes wrong, Dex decides to protect himself rather than his crew, and he never gets the chance to leave Night City. His part in the story is short, but the fallout from his choices drives the entire main plot that follows. In the original English version he is voiced by Michael-Leon Wooley.
