Oda

Sandayu Oda (小田 三太夫) is a solo and cyberninja in Arasaka’s service and the personal bodyguard of Hanako Arasaka. Goro Takemura trained him when he joined the corporation, and years of fighting side by side left the two men with deep mutual respect and a debt of honor. Oda earned his post through sheer skill, and he cares far more about keeping Hanako safe than about the Arasaka family’s power struggles.

He arrives in Night City aboard the supercarrier Kujira, escorting Hanako ahead of a parade in Japantown that turns into a memorial after Saburo Arasaka’s death. Oda already distrusts the way the event is being organized. Takemura, now in disgrace, arranges a discreet meeting at the Japantown docks and brings V along as a witness. Oda comes alone and by car as a sign of good faith, but cuts the talk short once he understands what V saw, and warns them both that he will not be so courteous next time.

The parade puts that warning to the test. Oda confronts V in one of the main story’s boss fights, and what happens to him afterwards is left to V, with Takemura pleading for his former pupil.
