Biography
Placide is one of the leaders of the Voodoo Boys, the closed netrunner gang of Pacifica, and second-in-command to its chief, Maman Brigitte. Like many of the gang’s members, he comes from the Haitian community that settled in Pacifica after natural disasters ravaged Haiti. He has no patience for outsiders from the rest of Night City and helps only his own people. Most visitors find his presence alone unsettling. His goal, shared by the whole gang, is to uncover what the Old Net still hides.
V meets him in the main story while trying to reach Brigitte, whose help might solve V’s Relic problem. Mr. Hands, Pacifica’s fixer, sets up the contact, but Placide agrees to open the door only if V first does a job for the gang: enter the Grand Imperial Mall, an unfinished complex taken over by the Animals, and find out who is trying to break into the Voodoo Boys’ private network. To keep watch over the operation, he loads a program into V’s cyberware that lets him follow every step the merc takes.
Placide treats V as disposable, a ranyon, the gang’s Creole word for a floor rag, and the relationship stays tense from start to finish. How things end between them depends on the decisions V makes in the quests that follow.
